It is our pleasure to welcome you to the Villa Krejza in Na Peknej Vyhliadke, which in Slovak means “The Place with Beautiful Views”. We offer affordable accommodation year-round in a stylishly renovated apartment house. The house is situated in an ideal location for both winter and summer tourist activities in Slovakia’s premier National Park, The High Tatras, renowned for its skiing, hiking and mountain climbing. Even the name “Na Peknej Vyhiladke” promises spectacular views of the mountain scenery. On a clear day you can see the whole countryside of Spis to the east, with views to the south and the west all the way to the Low Tatra Mountains. You will be enchanted by the overpowering sense of closeness of the massive High Tatras.

Also the unique character of the interior design contributes to a more pleasurable experience. In winter our antique “kachel oven” generates a warm and welcoming atmosphere, whilst in summer you can enjoy the privacy of our garden terrace.

The surrounding countryside offers rich possibilities for cultural and historical sightseeing trips and sporting activities in the Tatra valleys and fells. The tram provides a simple transportation solution. It operates between Tatranska Lomnica and Strbske Pleso which stops directly behind the pension. It is only a 10 minute walk from the pension to the middle of Staty Smokovec, one of the main tourist centers of the High Tatras. From there you can take the new cable car to Hrebienok, which is a starting location for hiking and mountain biking in the summer, and skiing in the winter.

Penzion Villa Krejza - Horný Smokovec - accommodation: Of course satellite television and wireless internet is standard in every room. Also available for the use of our guests free of charge are baby cots, and secure covered storage for ski equipment in winter and mountain bikes etc in the summer. For the younger children we have a playroom with toys, while in our garden we have a slide, a swing and sand pit. Whilst you children play in the garden you can either relax in the bar (open daily) or take a drink on our beautiful sunny terrace to keep an eye on their games.

Suggestions for hikes: Stary Smokovec is the focal point for your holiday adventures in the High Tatras.
Many different hiking trails start in Hrebienok, which is only 2 km away from Stary Smokovec either by foot or on the funicular railway. Paths lead from here to the valleys Mala Studena (the small cold one) and Velka Studena (the large cold one).
   The valley Mala Studena has many interesting features, including the waterfall Studenovodsky and the mountain cottage Rainerova chata which is only 45 mins away along the trail and for the more adventurous the cottage Teryho chata at 2015 m above sea level.
   The valley Velka Studena contains the mountain cottage Zbojnicka chata named after the Slovak Robin Hood. Only during the summer months it is possible to hike from the Mala Studena to the Velka Studena to the cottage over the ridge “priecne sedlo”.
From Hrebienok you can easily join the “Tatranska Magistrala” the main trail above the tree line which connects the various resorts in the High Tatra’s and offers magnificent views. It is easily recognized as it is marked with red identification paint at regular intervals. If you have the time it is possible to walk all the way from Skalnate Pleso in the East to Strbske Pleso in the West approximately 100,000kms.
   During the summer months the High Tatra’s not only offer good walking but good biking trails. To get to Skalnate Pleso you can either walk, mountain bike or take the small cable car. From here you can take Europe’s longest single stage cable car to Lomnicky Stit to visit the cafe, bar and metrological station at 2633.9&mbsp;m above sea level.
   Only 21km from Smokovec is the Belianska cave and not much further is the beautiful historic village of Zdiar, with its traditional Slovak wooden houses.
   Closer still for those who just prefer a quite walk, is Strbske Pleso (tarn), with its fantastic views and choice of cafes, bars and restaurants in which you can afterwards relax.
   The surrounding region also offers cultural delights for tourists. Spisska Sobota with its historic buildings is only 20 mins away. Alternatively you can make a whole day excursion following the “Gothic Trail” towards Spisske Hrad (Europe’s largest castle). Stopping on the way in the historic town of Levoca you can see St Jakub’s church, famous for Europe’s largest wooden decorated alter.
   Additonal recreation possibilities available include the thermal bath in Vrbov and Aquacity in Poprad – a water theme park.
   Of course, during winter you can make use of the different skiing centres. “Snowpark” in Strbske Pleso, “Jakubova Luka in Novy Smokovec, Jamy v Tatranska Lomnica, or you can take the cable car to Skalnate Pleso (the highest and steepest skiing in Slovakia). For the less proficient skier there are a number of alternatives close by including the slopes below Skalnate Pleso (Cucoriedky), Zdiar- Strednica, Bachledova Dolina, Liptovska Teplica and also Lucivna where night skiing is available. For the more adventurous there are many possibilities for ski touring in the locality, and even if you do not own your own equipment, you can hire from the local professional rental and service centres.
   If you prefer hiking to skiing you can hire a professional mountain guide, who will guide you both in summer and winter throughout the High Tatras.
   During the summer months there are also many interesting activities available in the mountains resorts in Hrebienok, Strbske Pleso, Tatranska Lominca, including traditional archery, and extreme downhill scooter rides.
